Expressing Hope: My shift to smoother textures and softer colors can be seen as a form of hope in response to the challenging events. The artworks may convey a message of optimism and the belief in a brighter future, encouraging viewers to find hope and positivity in the face of adversity.

Art has the power to connect people on an emotional level. By choosing gentle pastels and smooth textures, my aim was to evoke empathy and understanding among viewers, fostering a sense of compassion and shared experience.

Reflecting the Zeitgeist: As an artist, I am influenced by the cultural and social climate around me. My shift to softer, more peaceful aesthetics reflect a broader movement of artists responding to the prevailing narrative in the US and globally during the pandemic.

As an artist, my shift from painting in oils with thick textures to soft pastels with smooth textures during the COVID pandemic to counter the angry narrative in the US reflects a powerful response to the challenging times.
